Q. What is a TENS Unit?
A. TENS is an acronym for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation. A TENS unit sends electrical impulses through the skin (transcutaneously) to stimulate nerves and block pain signals being sent by the injury site.
Q. Why does your company require a prescription for a TENS or EMS unit and some other companies don’t?
A. TENSproducts only sells FDA approved electrotherapy devices and complies with all FDA prescription requirements. If you are ordering a TENS or EMS unit in the U.S. and are not a licensed healthcare professional, we cannot ship your device without a prescription. Any reputable company will require a prescription and those companies not following this requirement are breaking the law.
TENS and EMS units are regulated by the Food and Drug administration under the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act and must pass all FDA pre-market requirements. It is through these pre-market requirements that these devices have been classified as prescription devices. Therefore under Federal Law, it is illegal to sell or purchase a TENS or EMS unit without a prescription unless you are a licensed healthcare provider. For more information please visit the FDA website www.fda.gov
Q. How do I get my prescription to you?
A. You or your doctor can fax your prescription to 1-970-887-1356 or it can be scanned and emailed to rx@tensproducts.com
Q. What are your shipping rates and methods?
A. TENSproducts offers FREE Standard shipping for all U.S. addresses including Alaska and Hawaii via U.S. Postal. For additional shipping methods and associated cost, including Canada and international destinations, please see Rates, Destinations, Expected Delivery Times
Q. What is your return policy?
A. TENSproducts offers a 30 day satisfaction guarantee on our products and most of our TENS and EMS units are backed with a 3 year warranty (see specific item for details). We cannot accept returns on electrodes (replacement pads) due to cross-contamination risks. For full details on our return policy please see Returns
Q. Do you accept insurance or can you bill my insurance for me?
A. No, TENSproducts does not do any insurance billing. However, when you purchase any of our products you are provided with the paid sales receipt and the necessary CPT codes (billing codes) to submit to your insurance company on your own behalf.
